In 2017 Mary Janacek began working at Grace Farms as the Arts Initiative Studio Coordinator before becoming Assistant Director of Education. Using hands-on inquiry-based teaching methods, she collaborates across the Foundation to develop new and exciting ways to activate the site and build audiences through School Visits, daily visitor programming, tours, special events, and self-guided activities.
To her role, Mary Janacek brings over ten years of experience teaching art in classrooms and museums around the United States. She has held positions at ArtSeed, San Francisco, CA, Otis College of Art and Design, Los Angeles, CA, California Institute for the Arts, Valencia, CA, The Lapis Press, Culver City, CA, and The Unquowa School, Fairfield, CT.
After her time at the Lapis Press, working with the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles, to archive The MOCA Portfolio and supporting the creation of limited edition works by Alexandra Grant, Georg Herold, Elger Esser, and other artists, Mary’s passion for education was rekindled during her Artist Residency at The Unquowa School’s Maker Space.
She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Printmaking from the San Francisco Art Institute in San Francisco, CA, and her Master of Fine Arts from the California Institute for the Arts in Valencia, CA.
