Luna (she/her) is a freshman at Duke University, where she is studying public policy, human rights and anthropology. She is passionate about climate action and gender justice intersections. Luna is the founder and executive director of the Effective Climate Action Project, a youth organization advocating for systemic climate solutions. She is active in international climate leadership spaces, facilitating interactive climate workshops and advocating at the United Nations Climate Change Conference of Youth (COY16).
Luna joined Plan International USA’s Youth Advisory Board in 2021 after she attended Plan’s 2020 Youth Leadership Academy. She is point-person for the advisory board’s Social Media Advising and Mentorship sub-committees. She is trilingual, speaking English, Spanish, and Japanese. Luna has received the U.N. Gender Just Climate Solutions Award, the President’s Environmental Youth Award from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Action For Nature’s International Young Eco-Hero Award and the Ashoka Changemakers Award. In her free time, Luna loves to run and cook Japanese food.
