Katie Ray-Jones is the chief executive officer of the National Domestic Violence Hotline (The Hotline), where she provides strategic vision and leadership for the only 24/7 hotline in the nation serving those affected by relationship abuse. The Hotline provides validation, support, safety planning and referrals for survivors to nearly 5,000 shelters and domestic violence programs across the United States, Puerto Rico, Guam and the U.S. Virgin Islands. The Hotline has answered more than 6 million calls since its inception in 1996. For more than a decade, Katie has established herself as a leader in the domestic violence movement, and has extensive experience working with victims and survivors. Prior to being named CEO of The Hotline, Katie served as president of the organization for three years. She was also the operations director where she transformed operations within The Hotline and National Dating Abuse Helpline, which is now known as love is respect. In addition, Katie has worked at the local, state and national level providing multidisciplinary services that address the intersectionality of domestic violence with other social justice issues.
Currently, Katie is a member of the National Task Force to End Domestic and Sexual Violence. She is well known on Capitol Hill for her work in domestic violence prevention and was chosen by Congress to deliver testimony to the Labor-Health and Human Services Appropriations Committee.
Katie has a bachelor’s degree in child and family development from San Diego State University and a master’s degree in nonprofit management and leadership from the University of San Diego. She also holds a master’s degree in counseling and psychology from University of San Diego. Katie is married and has three wonderful children: George, Maximillian and Cooper.
