Brian Hayes is currently an acting Deputy Assistant Director for the New York Field Office (NYFO) Center for Intelligence, Targeting and Enforcement (CITE), where he assists CITE leadership with the various vital functions CITE performs daily. Brian’s permanent role is as the Deputy Chief of the NYFO Criminal Division, overseeing CBPO Task Force Officers and Managers assigned to various criminal investigative task forces in the New York and New Jersey area. The criminal division falls under the Border Security Unit (BSU) at the NYFO. The NYFO BSU has task force Officers embedded with the New York City Police Department (NYPD), the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), the United States Attorney’s Offices for both the Southern and Eastern District of New York (SDNY & EDNY), as well as the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) offices in both New York and New Jersey.
Brian has served as a task force Officer since 2015, first as a member of the Joint Terrorism Task Force (JTTF) and most recently as a member of the FBI’s Joint Organized Crime task force (JOCTF). Brian continues to liaison with a host of law enforcement partner agencies, foreign law enforcement counterparts and both public and private stakeholders in his permanent role.
Brian started his career with CBP in 2006 and has worked in various enforcement roles at John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK), both as an Officer and as a supervisor.
