Experience moments of peace and tranquility with improvisational arrangements of seasonal music, performed by local musicians and curated by acclaimed saxophonist and Grace Farms Music Director Marcus G. Miller.

Imagine the Sanctuary has transformed into your family’s living room. And imagine the performers are your cousins, who happen to be fantastic musicians, joyfully playing seasonal music and songs of togetherness. As they play, they’ll share stories about lessons they’ve learned this year, the inner workings of their craft, and their lives as professional musicians. We hope that their art and their experience will serve as opportunities to explore what this season means for you.

Our Friday, December 30 program will feature Charlotte Malin, accompanied by Rebecca Malin. Charlotte is a violinist, violist, singer/songwriter, teacher, and healer guiding people into direct, communal, and transformational encounters with music based in Northampton, MA.

Charlotte’s offerings and projects include embodied classical concerts called Bach In Your Body, sound healing journeys, vocal improvisation workshops & song circles, and compositional sound projects for dance, film, and podcasts. She is currently working on her first full album of original music, Welcome Home. Malin currently serves as the Viola Instructor at Amherst College.

As a classically-trained violin and viola player, Malin holds cum laude performance degrees from New England Conservatory and Northwestern University. She has collaborated closely with Yo-Yo Ma, Midori, and Kim Kashkashian, and has performed throughout the US, Europe, Asia, and South America. Additionally, she has held positions as Principal Viola of the Hudson Valley Philharmonic, the Tanglewood Music Center, the Hartford Symphony, the Albany Symphony, the Sarasota Opera Orchestra, and the Peninsula Music Festival in Door County WI.

Grace Farms Foundation’s interdisciplinary humanitarian mission is to pursue peace through five initiatives — nature, arts, justice, community, and faith — and Grace Farms, a SANAA-designed site for convening people across sectors. Our stake in the ground is to end modern slavery and gender-based violence, and create more grace and peace in our local and global communities.
