Teaching Democratic Discussion Skills
Saturday, January 23, 2027, 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm

Inspired by Danielle Allen’s book, Our Declaration, and her work examining the Declaration of Independence as democratic writing, join Grace Farms Director of Strategic Programming, Val McVey, for a workshop on teaching democracy skills through collaborative discussion strategies. Participants will receive access to free resources they can implement with their students.
This workshop is designed as a teacher professional development session for secondary educators.
A career educator, Val McVey is a former classroom teacher, curriculum director and professional development specialist. Prior to joining Grace Farms, Val was the Director of Programs for the National Archives Foundation in Washington DC, and the Director of Curriculum at the Lou Frey Institute of Politics and Government at the University of Central Florida.
Following the workshop, join us for a Grace Farms Lecture with Dr. Danielle Allen.
