Rick Snell is the virtuosic guitarist behind New York City’s thriving bluegrass scene. This July, he’s headed to Grace Farms for a lively summer concert the entire family can enjoy!
Step into this rich, quintessentially American genre — then let loose and dance in the Sanctuary aisles. Perhaps best enjoyed in the heat of summer, bluegrass has a one-of-a-kind sound inspired by English and Scottish folk melodies, string band music, African banjo songs, and the everyday lives of Americans living in 18th century Appalachia.
Snell, who will play acoustic guitar, will be joined by Erik Alvar on bass, Chris Luquette on mandolin, and Bobby Hawk on fiddle.
Snell founded and hosts Mona’s Monday Night Bluegrass Session, a weekly showcase of New York City’s best American roots musicians. In 2022, he played the mandolin/guitar chair in the National Broadway tour of “Oklahoma!”. Currently, he subs the guitar/mandolin chair at “Fiddler On the Roof” at New World Stages.
This family-friendly seasonal music series is curated by our Music Director, Marcus G. Miller.
This concert takes place indoors.
