Nature’s Classroom | Dragonflies and Fireflies

Saturday, July 27, 11:00 am - 12:00 pm

Embark on a guided nature walk with our Director of Horticulture Kimberly Kelly to discover the lively habitat and amazing life cycles of dragonflies flying around Cattail Pond. Kimberly will also discuss the mysterious life of fireflies, and how the presence of both insects is a sign of a healthy ecosystem.

This walk is recommended for ages 12 and up. Please wear footwear appropriate for unpaved nature trails.

Nature’s Classroom is a monthly program series inviting hands-on and seasonal explorations of the Grace Farms nature preserve to deepen learning, appreciation, and connection to the natural world. This series is designed for teens and adults and hosted by Grace Farms Horticulture Director Kimberly Kelly.

Kimberly Kelly has over 25 years of experience facilitating and educating communities about horticulture and ecology (nature conservation). Formerly at UCONN Extension, CT DEEP and the CT Science Center, she is a UConn Advanced Master Gardener, serves as President of the Board of Directors of the International Association of Butterfly Exhibitors and Suppliers, and is a member of the Board of Directors of the Connecticut Master Gardener Association.
