Join our monthly book group as we pair two great works from famed writers Martin Luther King Jr. and James Baldwin. As contemporaries whose works center on race in America during the Civil Rights Movement, the backgrounds and perspectives of these great writers differ tremendously and elucidate different angles, tragedies, and challenges in the fight for true equality in America. Grace Farms Foundation Arts Initiative Director, Kenyon Adams, will co-lead a discussion about James Baldwin’s Notes of a Native Son and Martin Luther King Jr.’s “Letter from a Birmingham Jail”.
Notes of a Native Son ($15) and Why We Can’t Wait ($9.99), which includes “Letter from a Birmingham Jail”, can be purchased or borrowed from the Grace Farms Library.
This month’s book group will be offered on both Thursday, June 29th from 7-8 pm and Friday, June 30th from 11 am-12 pm. Choose a time that works best for you and join in our discussion.
