Learn about the important efforts surrounding the refugee crisis in the United States, and the response from organizations including The International Institute of Connecticut (IICONN), in a conversation moderated by Grace Farms Foundation Justice Initiative Director, Krishna Patel. The panel will include informative perspectives from Claudia Connor, the President & CEO of IICONN, as well as a resettled Syrian refugee from our local community.

IICONN’s Refugee Services Program assists adults and families who have fled war and persecution in their home countries, and in many cases spent decades in refugee camps. Founded in 1918, IICONN is a statewide not-for-profit human services agency that addresses the need to provide new immigrants and refugees in Connecticut with services to help them become self-sufficient, integrated, and contributing members of the community. The organization focuses on helping those individuals who face significant barriers to adjusting to their new environment by offering legal, social, linguistic, and educational programs to help them overcome these obstacles. The Institute also provides special services to victims of serious crimes such as human trafficking, torture, and domestic violence.
