Grace Farms Foundation is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Matthew Croasmun as the Foundation’s first Faith Initiative Director. In this role, Croasmun will be responsible for developing and implementing opportunities for contemplation, dialogue, and study across a variety of religious, spiritual and ethical traditions.
Dr. Croasmun joins Grace Farms Foundation from Yale University where he will continue to serve as the Associate Research Scholar and Director of the Life Worth Living Program at the Yale Center for Faith and Culture and Lecturer of Divinity & Humanities. He completed his Ph.D. with distinction in Religious Studies at Yale in 2014. In addition to a decade of teaching experience at Yale University, he is the author of three books and is a frequent guest lecturer.
“We welcome Dr. Matthew Croasmun’s leadership in our Faith Initiative to establish a sense of curiosity, scholarship, and new perspectives that could lead to human flourishing,” said Sharon Prince, Chair and President of Grace Farms Foundation.
Dr. Croasmun has collaborated with Grace Farms Foundation since 2017, where he led a six-week course, Life Worth Living, which explored a range of philosophical and religious traditions to facilitate discussions on the questions of meaning and purpose. The class was also sold-out with a waitlist in 2018.
“I am eager to enter this new role at Grace Farms and look forward to convening conversations about meaning and purpose across important and enduring lines of difference,” said Croasmun. “Grace Farms Foundation’s five initiatives of faith, arts, justice, nature and community, make it possible to practice public theology in a pluralistic age.”
His first public program, For the Life of the World | A Conversation with Miroslav Volf and Matthew Croasmun, will take place on Friday, Feb. 15, following the Community Dinner. The conversation will discuss the authors’ new book, which examines what constitutes a flourishing life and how to meet the cultural challenges of an ever-changing world.
