As part of Grace Farms Foundation’s signature Arts Initiative program, Practicing, creative families with children ages 3 through 10, were invited to explore joy through imagination-driven, child-directed, unstructured play.

The Imagination Playground is an innovative system designed by architect David Rockwell, comprised of large-scale, lightweight, sky blue blocks that can be stacked, channeled, and connected.

The program, located in the Court of the SANAA-designed River building, encouraged young visitors and their adult companions, to discover the relationship between joy, play, knowledge, and memory.

This program is grounded in the notion that the power to imagine is connected to our impulse to create, highlighting the belief that making and creating can be one of the most meaningful ways that communities experience and sustain joy.

The Imagination Playground is free and open to the public from 10:30 am to 2:30 pm between Memorial Day and Labor Day. We encourage children and their adult caregivers to ask questions, build skills, solve problems, and make friends at Grace Farms.
