Explore the Flowering Trees of Spring

One of our favorite signs of spring is the beautiful flowering trees. But beyond their beauty, they play an important role in contributing to a healthy, diverse ecosystem. Can you find any of the flowering trees below in your neighborhood? If not, consider planting one!

Eastern Redbud

Eastern redbud trees display heart-shaped pink blossoms in April. They usually have multiple trunks and are about 20 to 30 feet high.

Flowering Dogwood

Dogwood flowers typically have four petals ranging in color from white to pink, and are found on the branches of the trees, near the leaves.

Serviceberry

Serviceberry bushes bloom in spring with five-petaled, white flowers. The flowers last only a few days and give way to juicy berries that resemble blueberries in size, color, and flavor.
