During the tour\, sample a cup of tea from Grace Farms Tea & Coffee\, a Certified B Corp that demonstrates and educates about ethical and sustainable supply chains. \nThe River building\, designed by Pritzker Prize-winning firm\, SANAA\, holds LEED Gold certification for Building Design and Construction. A demonstration of our continuing efforts to be as sustainable as possible\, in 2024\, we were awarded Gold certification for Building Operations and Maintenance\, building on our LEED Silver certification in 2019. \nThe River building was awarded the prestigious 2014/2015 Mies Crown Hall Americas Prize (MCHAP)\, in addition to the AIA National 2017 Architecture Honor Award and AIA Connecticut 2016 Design Honor Award. \nApproved for AIA CES 1.5 LU

DESCRIPTION:Get inspired by the new\, berry plantings recently installed in the Grace Farms Garden and learn the basics of growing these fruits at home. Understand the process from start to finish\, beginning with plant choice\, garden preparation and management\, all the way to harvesting and preservation. \nNature Workshops by Kimberly Kelly invite adults of all experience to learn about the various cultural practices that rely on nature\, including flower bouquets\, the impact of seeds\, permaculture\, and holiday décor. \nAbout Kimberly Kelly\n \nGrace Farms Director of Horticulture\, Kimberly Kelly\, brings over 25 years of experience to Grace Farms. During her career\, she has fostered inclusive and meaningful ways to connect the public to the natural world\, through horticulture\, ecology\, and regenerative land-use practices using both formal and informal educational programs. \nKimberly currently serves as member of the Board of Directors of the Connecticut Master Gardener Association and is the President of the Board of Director of the International Association of Butterfly Exhibitors and Suppliers. She has also served on local and statewide land-use boards including Inland Wetlands and Water Course Commission and the Connecticut Association of Conservation and Inland Wetlands Commission. Kimberly has worked for leading educational and conservation organizations including the University of Connecticut’s (UCONN) Cooperative Extension System where she was a Master Gardener Coordinator and Instructor\, as well as the State Junior Master Gardener Coordinator. She was the Horticultural Director at the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) at Goodwin State Forest’s Education and Conservation Center before moving on to the Connecticut Science Center where she was the Horticulture and Butterfly Encounter Manager. Her experience ranges from designing and managing large and small ecological landscapes\, green roof systems\, tropical greenhouses filled with butterflies\, and creating and delivering environmental educational programs for all age groups. \nShe has earned numerous certifications including Pace University’s Land Use Leadership Alliance (LULA) and University of Connecticut’s Advanced Master Gardener certification.

DESCRIPTION:Discover the defining flavors\, engaging stories\, and diverse cultural influences that shaped North America’s culinary heritage in this interactive workshop led by Pastry Chef and Educator Leah Jones. \nExplore how regional traditions\, ingredients\, and historical events have helped to define today’s American palate—and gain a deeper understanding of how food reflects our collective history. \nAbout Chef’s Palate\nChef’s Palate\, hosted by Grace Farms Founding Pastry Chef and educator Leah Jones\, is a family-friendly series of educational conversations designed to explore all the ways in which food intersects many aspects of our lives. \nLeah Jones has more than 15 years of food service and culinary experience and has been with Grace Farms since its opening in 2015. She leads recipe research and development for all baking and pastry programs. She feels strongly about creating a more sustainable and equitable food system\, both locally and globally\, and upholds a zero-food waste approach when it comes to baking. She holds a B.S. in Baking & Pastry Arts and Food Service Management from Johnson & Wales University.

DESCRIPTION:Families are invited to play\, build\, deconstruct\, reimagine\, and discover the life cycle of everyday materials in our built environment with our education team. Inspired by materials in the exhibit With Every Fiber: Pigment\, Stone\, Glass\, families can explore the unique properties of these materials and use their imaginations to create new applications for them. \nOnOctober 11\, 2025\, Grace Farms unveiled a new iteration of the With Every Fiber exhibit\, which offers insights into forced labor in the building materials supply chain. A portion of With Every Fiber was adapted and included in the Intelligens CANON at the 19th International Architecture Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia\, curated by Carlo Ratti\, open through November 2025. \nMaterials Studio is for ages 4 – 11 with adult caregivers. This is free and included with daily registration.
