SUMMARY:Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction | 8-Week Course
DESCRIPTION:Join us for an 8-week Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) course taught by Dr. Brandon Nappi\, founder and Executive Director of Copper Beech Institute. The course will provide participants with the tools to help cultivate greater mindfulness in their day-to-day lives. A contemplative practice\, mindfulness helps to awaken your senses\, expand your capacity for presence\, and come into greater awareness of yourself and your connectedness to others. This course is open to people at any level of contemplative experience\, including beginners. \n  \nBenefits of MBSR include: \n\n\n\nIncreased well-being and happiness\nLess stress and anxiety\nStrengthened immune system\nLess emotional reactivity\nGreater focus and cognitive flexibility\nGreater empathy and compassion\nLasting decreases in physical and psychological symptoms\nReductions in pain levels and an enhanced ability to cope with pain\n\n  \nYour registration includes the full 8-week course\, held from 6:30 – 9 pm on Wednesdays from April 3 through May 22\, with a full-day retreat held on Saturday\, May 4 from 10 am – 5 pm. An orientation via video conference call will be held prior to the start of the course on March 20 at 6:30 pm. This course is approved for 26 hours of Continuing Education Credits. \n  \nAbout Dr. Brandon Nappi \nDr. Brandon Nappi is a spiritual teacher\, speaker\, and writer who passionately believes in the capacity of the human spirit to awaken. DESCRIPTION:Grace Farms Foundation and the Interfaith Council of Southwestern Connecticut invite you to join us for an Interfaith Seder led by Grace Farms Foundation’s Faith Initiative Director Matt Croasman\, Rabbi Joshua Hammerman of Temple Beth El\, Reverend Mark Lingle of St. Francis Episcopal Church\, and Dr. Kareem Adeeb\, former Board President of the American Institute for Islamic and Arabic Studies. \nFollowing an abbreviated Passover Seder\, we will discuss how our religious traditions teach us to respond to the current moment\, when violence in our world and houses of worship seems to be pervasive. Our conversation will explore the similarities and differences that Jews\, Christians\, and Muslims have with regard to forgiveness\, and the significance of never forgetting the tragedies that harm our communities and impact our humanity. \nThe Seder meal will be symbolic. Light refreshments will be served.
