DESCRIPTION:Grace Farms’ Music Director Marcus Garrick Miller will be performing a full concert with his band IWM as a special treat for the summer. It will feature classics you may remember from his Beauty and Logic Series as well\, new music composed specifically for this concert and some surprise guests. This will be your only chance to see his show at Grace Farms this year; make sure you don’t miss out! \nConcert is appropriate for the whole family\, but not oriented to young children. \nProgram\n4-4:30: Q&A with Marcus and Tea\n4:30-6pm: Concert\n6-6:15: Meet and Greet with Marcus \nAbout Marcus Garrick Miller\nMarcus Garrick Miller is the first Music Director for the Foundation. He began studying saxophone at age nine and developed a passion that put him on stage at 13. With gifts extending beyond music\, he graduated from Harvard University with a degree in Mathematics. After a short stint at a major hedge fund he moved to New York City to pursue music. He soon developed a reputation as a versatile and virtuosic player\, while studying music production and engineering under Grammy-Winning Engineer “Bassy” Bob Brockman (Notorious B.I.G\, Herbie Hancock\, D’Angelo). \nMarcus has performed at the Obama White House\, Madison Square Garden\, Carnegie Hall\, and The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. In addition\, he has worked with jazz giants ELEW and Jazzmeia Horn\, as well as major artists like Jon Batiste\, The Fugees and Madonna. \nMusic at Grace Farms\nThis concert series invites our global community of visitors\, musicians\, and creators to share in an exceptional live music experience at the intersection of sound\, artistry\, nature\, and intentionally designed spaces.

Take in 360–degree views of the surrounding landscapes while exploring the building’s sustainable design\, curated interiors\, and materials choices. During the tour\, sample a cup of tea from Grace Farms Tea & Coffee\, a Certified B Corp that demonstrates and educates about ethical and sustainable supply chains. \nThe River building\, designed by Pritzker Prize-winning firm\, SANAA\, holds LEED Gold certification for Building Design and Construction. A demonstration of our continuing efforts to be as sustainable as possible\, in 2024\, we were awarded Gold certification for Building Operations and Maintenance\, building on our LEED Silver certification in 2019. \nThe River building was awarded the prestigious 2014/2015 Mies Crown Hall Americas Prize (MCHAP)\, in addition to the AIA National 2017 Architecture Honor Award and AIA Connecticut 2016 Design Honor Award. \nApproved for AIA CES 1.5 LU

DESCRIPTION:Join artist\, educator\, and designer Natalie Stopka for a hands-on workshop where you’ll create your own pastels using brick\, slate\, and gypsum. Participants will mix their own pigments and craft unique pastels to take home. \nIn 2023\, Stopka visited Grace Farms to host a textile workshop focused on extending the life of textiles with patches and repair techniques. \nThe Art in Nature workshop series is led by visiting artists and Grace Farms staff\, inspired by the Grace Farms landscape and the Foundation’s five initiatives\, with instruction\, hands-on opportunities to practice new skills\, and a takeaway made by each participant.
