Take in 360–degree views of the surrounding landscapes while exploring the building’s sustainable design\, curated interiors\, and materials choices. During the tour\, sample a cup of tea from Grace Farms Tea & Coffee\, a Certified B Corp that demonstrates and educates about ethical and sustainable supply chains. \nThe River building\, designed by Pritzker Prize-winning firm\, SANAA\, holds LEED Gold certification for Building Design and Construction. A demonstration of our continuing efforts to be as sustainable as possible\, in 2024\, we were awarded Gold certification for Building Operations and Maintenance\, building on our LEED Silver certification in 2019. \nThe River building was awarded the prestigious 2014/2015 Mies Crown Hall Americas Prize (MCHAP)\, in addition to the AIA National 2017 Architecture Honor Award and AIA Connecticut 2016 Design Honor Award. \nApproved for AIA CES 1.5 LU

She also hosts food history pop-up talks for daily visitors throughout the week and teaches culinary fundamentals during educational programming throughout the year. Her focus areas include fostering local food sustainability and creating a more sustainable and equitable food system on a local and global scale. She upholds a zero-food waste approach and often partners with the Grace Farms Community Garden to feature seasonal produce in her confections.

Take in 360–degree views of the surrounding landscapes while exploring the building’s sustainable design\, curated interiors\, and materials choices. During the tour\, sample a cup of tea from Grace Farms Tea & Coffee\, a Certified B Corp that demonstrates and educates about ethical and sustainable supply chains. \nThe River building\, designed by Pritzker Prize-winning firm\, SANAA\, holds LEED Gold certification for Building Design and Construction. A demonstration of our continuing efforts to be as sustainable as possible\, in 2024\, we were awarded Gold certification for Building Operations and Maintenance\, building on our LEED Silver certification in 2019. \nThe River building was awarded the prestigious 2014/2015 Mies Crown Hall Americas Prize (MCHAP)\, in addition to the AIA National 2017 Architecture Honor Award and AIA Connecticut 2016 Design Honor Award. \nApproved for AIA CES 1.5 LU

At special stopping points\, the guide offers prompts where children can write\, draw\, or talk to a friend about what they see. \nYou can also pick up a self-guided booklet at the Noticing Nature pop-up talk in the Commons. \nCaterpillar Compass is available as a private and guided tour for groups upon request. DESCRIPTION:Come to the Garden at Grace Farms for a hands-on class that connects families with nature. Learn basic gardening skills and imagine starting your own container or backyard herb garden. This class will naturally spark interest and embolden beginner gardeners to grow\, cut and cook with their own homegrown herbs! \nEach participant will take home an herb to start a garden. \nLearning with Nature\nAn evolution of our gardening workshops\, this series invites all generations to see nature at work with Kimberly Kelly\, Director of Horticulture. Through guided walks\, Garden visits\, and indoor instruction\, connect with the purpose of the ecosystems we inhabit\, the vibrant life that’s a part of it\, and our role in maintaining and adding to it. This summer\, Kimberly brings us meaningful ways to connect with the natural world by teaching participants to plant gardens\, manage beehives\, notice the life of butterflies and dragonflies\, and increase biodiversity in the landscape.
