The Gravity of Joy: A Story of Being Lost and Found with Author Rev. Dr. Angela W. Gorrell

Tuesday, April 13, 2021, 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

LIVE ZOOM EVENT

“Joy has a mysterious capacity to be felt alongside sorrow and even—sometimes most especially—in the midst of suffering.”

Join us for a Zoom conversation with Faith Initiative Director, Dr. Matthew Croasmun and Rev. Dr. Angela W. Gorrell, who will discuss her latest book The Gravity of Joy: A Story of Being Lost and Found. Gorrell contextualizes her search for Christian joy within her personal experience of loss, and ultimately the larger societal need for joy as a counteragent to the despair that is all too prevalent in the twenty-first century. Her work articulates a vision for community that, in the midst of tragedy, comes together in the search for joy.

Our Books on Faith & Meaning series consists of monthly presentations introducing selections from the Faith & Meaning section of the Grace Farms Library. Spanning multiple religious and philosophical traditions, both ancient and contemporary, these texts encourage us to think critically about the meaning in our lives.
