The Gravity of Joy: A Story of Being Lost and Found

LIVE ZOOM EVENT
“Joy has a mysterious capacity to be felt alongside sorrow and even—sometimes most especially—in the midst of suffering.”
Join us for a Zoom conversation with Faith Initiative Director, Dr. Matthew Croasmun and Rev. Angela W. Gorrell, who will discuss her latest book The Gravity of Joy: A Story of Being Lost and Found. Gorrell contextualizes her search for Christian joy within her personal experience of loss, and ultimately the larger societal need for joy as a counteragent to the despair that is all too prevalent in the twenty-first century. Her work articulates a vision for community that, in the midst of tragedy, comes together in the search for joy.
Our Books on Faith & Meaning series consists of monthly presentations introducing selections from the Faith & Meaning section of the Grace Farms Library. Spanning multiple religious and philosophical traditions, both ancient and contemporary, these texts encourage us to think critically about the meaning in our lives.
Grace Farms Foundation’s interdisciplinary humanitarian mission is to pursue peace through five initiatives — nature, arts, justice, community, and faith — and Grace Farms, a SANAA-designed site for convening people across sectors. Our stake in the ground is to end modern slavery and gender-based violence, and create more grace and peace in our local and global communities.
